Appointed Times

A couple of years ago at at bible study, a statement was made:

"Why does anyone need to keep the feast anymore?"

I really didn't have a very good answer then, but now, it is a lot clearer, especially after reading this weeks Torah portion.

In Genesis 1 14:16: God said "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for the days and years: and let them be for light in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth"; and it was so, God made the two great lights, the great light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the starts also.

The word "seasons" is actually the Hebrew word moedim; which is "appointed times." It is the word that usually translates as "feasts" when speaking of the biblical festivals.

We keep the feasts because God set this up for us in the heavens from the very beginning! Isn't this a big enough sign for us to follow!
